Switzerland and UNDP will finance four new digital solutions to improve e-services

UNDP Moldova selected the winners of a call for proposals launched in partnership with the e-Governance Agency and Optim Project – Opportunities through Technologies and Innovation in Moldova, a project of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), implemented by HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation.
Four digital solutions will benefit from funding:
- M Grinder ICT - will develop an AI-based proactive cyber security system for banks, and then scale it up to other industries.
- Simpals - will develop an escrow service for digital marketplaces to enable e-commerce in Moldova, which can potentially increase the public’s trust in online transactions.
- Power IT and the American University of Moldova - will develop an educational solution meant to improve distance learning.
- XY Incubator - will develop their already existing digital platform for learning entrepreneurship, XY Academy, integrate it in teaching programs, to enable more entrepreneurship within youth.
The total amount of the grants provided to these solutions amounts to US$152,200, of which US$99,000 are provided by HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation. The financial support provided to one digital solution does not exceed US$40,000 and is matched in full by a financial or in-kind contribution provided by the selected ICT companies.
UNDP conducts regularly call for proposals within its “Accelerating Digital Transformation in the Public Sector in the Republic of Moldova” Programmme, to encourage the private ICT sector of Moldova to generate innovative solutions for the digitalization of public and private digital services, as well as IT solutions for the non-IT sector.
