eMonitor+

Promoting information integrity in Mozambique

eMonitor+ is a global solution tailored to local needs

Implemented for the first time in a Portuguese-speaking country (Mozambique) and in sub-Saharan Africa

eMonitor+ leverages AI technology to support human-led analysis by monitoring and identifying critical trends on public social media platforms and media websites. These include hate speech, dis/misinformation, and technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV). By providing actionable insights, eMonitor+ enables key stakeholders—such as media organizations, electoral management bodies, national human rights commissions, civil society, and others —to implement data-driven strategies and create impactful change.

What we do

•  Social Media Listening: maps public digital space and monitor trends on various issues, such as misinformation, hate speech, political polarization, and online violence against women and other highly vulnerable groups. This provides the foundation for evidence-based strategies to promote safer and more inclusive digital environments.

•  Fact-Checking: offers a secure platform for verifying digital content through automated tools, publishing validated articles, and allowing citizens to report news for analysis.

As an AI-assisted tool that supports human-led analysis, eMonitor+ allows us to systematically track and analyze key issues such as hate speech, dis/misinformation, political polarization, & technology-facilitated GBV. Our goal is to better understand how these threats impact Mozambique’s political-electoral processes and to support more informed decision-making in response to them, while promoting freedom of speech and fostering a safer digital space
