Media plays an important role in shaping the perspectives of the public in political, social and economic spheres. Social issues pertaining to women, LGBTIQA+ and excluded groups are not given as much coverage in the media. There are many untold stories that are yet to be explored and published so they could contribute to change social norms that are holding back women and girls in society. AP1 Television has been broadcasting TV show named “Ma Nari” to cover these untold stories bringing out the issues that have been shadowed. The aim of the TV show is to highlight some of the social issues and feature champions to advocate for a diverse, inclusive and equal Nepal.

UN Women and UNDP has been jointly supporting this programme as it is unique and focused on investigative journalism on bringing out key issues pertaining to women. This joint initiative is also part our advocacy to push forward the agenda of gender equality and social inclusion in all walks of life.
