New York - The Government of Norway recently provided USD 40.3 million (428.4 million Norwegian Krone) in regular (core) resources to UNDP as part of their 2023 contributions. UNDP thanks Norway for its core contribution and its recognition and support of UNDP’s work with countries to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

UNDP greatly appreciates Norway’s longstanding and continued support, which is critical to advancing the Sustainable Development Agenda during a crucial time of poly-crisis and budget constraints. This critical funding is timely for UNDP’s ability to react and work flexibly and swiftly to crises and unprecedented shocks globally. UNDP and Norway remain committed to their shared goal of tackling the ripple effects of COVID-19 and the war in Ukraine while delivering on the SDGs.

UNDP is increasing its efforts to support countries on their pathway towards sustainable development, focusing on those most vulnerable and those furthest left behind. Norway’s contribution is critical to this endeavour.

Norway is a strategic partner for UNDP to deliver significant development impacts. UNDP works closely with Norway on many development issues, including efforts to address the health, social and economic consequences of COVID-19, eradicate poverty, and promote democratic governance, conflict prevention, peacebuilding, and resilience, among others.

Regular resources are also vital to UNDP’s ability to ensure that the organisation can respond quickly and efficiently, in line with shared development priorities and following the highest standards of transparency and accountability. This is evident with UNDP being consistently rated among the most transparent international organisations.
