United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) extends its assistance to the Kyrgyz Republic supplying another set of medical equipment, PPEs for medical institutions and cancer drugs with the support of Multi-Partner Trust Fund Office (MPTF Office). 20 hospitals throughout the country will get 40 oxygen concentrators and PPEs to strengthen the capacity of the health facilities.
Djangaziev Bakyt Ishenovich, Deputy Minister of Health on Digital Development said: “UNDP has consolidated the efforts of development partners under a multi-partner trust agreement. For our part, we will promptly distribute this humanitarian aid in the organizations of healthcare in our country. We thank all development partners for their assistance in the fight against COVID-19”.
Tomica Paovic, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative at the handover ceremony said: “UNDP is committed to supporting the efforts of the Kyrgyz Republic to fight COVID-19 pandemic and moreover, its consequences on healthcare and economy of the country. In this regard, we have been working closely with the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic and were able to ensure early supply of personal protective equipment, PCR tests and ventilators in summer as well as helping the Government to organize safe observation zones for doctors who have been working in “red zones”. UNDP remains a reliable partner of the country and eager to respond to the global challenges as COVID-19”.
20 health facilities, including National Hospital of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, National Center for Cardiology and Therapy, National Surgical Center, Railway hospital, City Clinical Hospital #1 and #2, City Children's Clinical Emergency Hospital, City Gynecological Hospital, Maternity hospital #1 and #2, City Perinatal Center, Republican Center for Dermato-Venereology, Republican Center for Narcology, National Center of Oncology and Hematology, Research Institute for Heart Surgery and Organ Transplantation, National Center for Phthisiology, City Tuberculosis Hospital, City Children's Tuberculosis Hospital #1 , Bishkek Scientific Research Center of Traumatology and Orthopedics and City Center for Tuberculosis Control received 10,000 medical masks, 1,200 N95 respirators, 2,880 protective gloves and 10,000 gloves, 15,000 gowns, 2,880 hazard bags, 20 oxygen concentrators with 5L capacity and 20 oxygen concentrators with 10L capacity. The total cost of the purchased PPEs and medical equipment is 170,026 USD. This list might be changed in accordance with the needs of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic.
In addition, National Center of Oncology and Hematology under the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic received cancer drugs for amount of 59,180 USD.
The supplement of these equipment and PPEs became possible with the support of Multi-Partner Trust Fund Office (MPTF Office) that facilitates UN coherence and development effectiveness in addressing multifaceted issues—such as humanitarian crises, peacebuilding, recovery and development—and engages in collaborative international efforts on pandemics, climate change and biodiversity conservation.
