UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative’s meets with new Greater Tumen Initiative Consultative Commission Chairman

On 21 May, the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative to China Ms. Renata Dessallien met with the newly appointed Chair of the Consultative Commission (CC) of the Greater Tumen Initiative (GTI), a long-standing intergovernmental cooperation mechanism between four countries including the People’s Republic of China, Mongolia, the Republic of Korea and the Russian Federation. During this meeting, the strategic priorities and future development path of the GTI were discussed. UNDP reaffirmed its commitment to working with the GTI and pinpointed priorities for its sustainable development.

Vice Minister of the Mongolian Government’s Ministry of Finance and incumbent GTI CC Chair Mr. Surenjav Purev emphasised the importance the Mongolian Government has attached to the GTI and pledged to promote cooperation between member countries during his tenure.

Director of the Tumen Secretariat, Mr. Choi Hoon and other staff were also in attendance at the meeting.

The GTI National Coordinator’s Meeting will be held in August in Ulaanbaatar and the 14th Meeting of the GTI CC is timetabled for late October this year.
