PNG is often referred to as the land of opportunity.  But how do we fulfil that opportunity? Deloitte and UNDP believe human capital is a key step to unlocking this and therefore the two organisations joined forces to ask a simple question - how do we grow employment in PNG?

A survey of employers across the country was conducted focusing on the barriers businesses face in expanding their employment base, identifying the skills they require to grow their business and identifying how accessible those skills are in the local market.

It is intended that this report will provide a useful information base for policy makers, academics, businesses, training providers and other interested parties to consider in order to identify ways to grow employment across the country.

It is Deloitte’s and the UNDP’s collective belief that realising PNG’s many opportunities will require a collaborative and concerted effort by all stakeholders to ensure that the foundations for sustainable economic growth are in place. We hope that this report provides further impetus for such collaboration to take place.
