Swaziland has health care coverage of 85% in spite of which the country continues to be confronted with daunting challenges with respect to Maternal Mortality. Maternal Mortality at 593/100,000 is very high is one of the highest in Africa. In addition to improving HIV Management before, during and after pregnancy for HIV-positive women, their partners and youths; and improving Quality of Skilled Birth Attendance and MNCH services; the MAF highlighted and proposed solutions to the non-health impediments such as access to health facilities through infrastructure; telecommunication facilities; education and sensitization; nutrition and cultural influence. This Report emphasizes that Maternal Health is not only a Health Sector issue but a national development concern that requires the concerted efforts of all the sectors especially the social and enabling sectors such as infrastructure.
