Women's political participation in Kenya has come a long way and women have constantly fought for space in the political arena but with minimal Gains. The promulgation of the constitution of Kenya 2010 was a major milestone in the fight towards gender equality as it opened up spaces for women's participation in decision making process. Article 27(8) and 81 (b) provide that no more than two thirds of the members of the elective or appointive bodies shall be of te same gender. The regional dialogue workshop was therefore held to provide an opportunity for participants drawn from various countries in Africa to share their experiences on how best to operationalize the quota provisions. This was aimed at enabling Kenya learn from the experiences of other countries and develop its own concrete strategies to implement the gender provision
