A 3-day training course on mechanisms for the protection of Human Rights took place in Bissau from the 24th to the 26th of August 2021, promoted by the Network of Human Rights Defenders and supported by UNDP Guinea-Bissau.
The training covered topics such as human rights typology, conflict resolution techniques, restorative justice, among others.
“The promotion and protection of human rights are fundamental for the strengthening of democracy, the rule of law and the justice system, and also for the fight against social exclusion and poverty”, said Oumar Diallo, representing UNDP.
The President of the Network of Human Rights Defenders, Fodé Mané, emphasized the need for greater protection for human rights activists, who have been the target of threats in the exercise of their functions, which undermines the gains achieved over the last few years.
