POPs and the Family is an illustrated book that explains the dangers of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) and how families can reduce their exposure. POPs, also known as forever chemicals, linger for many years, causing harm to human health and the environment. The book is part of a public education initiative to get more persons aware of POPs, their sources and mitigation methods. The book is a production of the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) with the kind support of the Global Environment Facility. National efforts to eliminate POPs is part of Jamaica's obligation as a signatory to the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants - a global environmental agreement aiming to eliminate these dangerous pollutants.
