Our focus
UNDP provides policy and programming support to key stakeholders for developing integrated solutions to violent extremism. This includes the generation of methodologies, tools, and policies to fill knowledge gaps, monitor progress, measure impact, and facilitate learning.
Moreover, UNDP supports Governments to research, develop and implement strategies for PVE, facilitating the engagement of national counterparts, communities (including young women and men), civil society organisations, national academia, and parliaments in the development of sustainable PVE Natonal Action Plans.
UNDP's programming is guided by the 2016 Plan of Action to Prevent Violent Extremism, where the UN Secretary-General calls for a comprehensive approach encompassing not only security-based counter-terrorism measures, but also systematic preventive steps to address the underlying conditions driving individuals to radicalize and join violent extremist groups.
