Opening ceremonies of vocational training centers in Ferghana Valley

To further improve the system of training personnel in working professions, organize the educational process in conjunction with practice, form the modern professions skills among the unemployed population, including youth and women, as well as provide employment for poor and unemployed citizens by involving them in work and entrepreneurial income-generating activities, vocational training centers in mahallas are being opened in all regions of the country.
Vocational training centers in mahallas provide an opportunity to train citizens in such areas as confectionery, hairdressing, sewing, and computer literacy.
On September 21-23, in the mahallas of Andijan, Ferghana and Namangan regions, opening ceremonies of the vocational training centers were held. These centers were equipped by the “Adapting population skills to the post-pandemic economy in Fergana Valley” joint project of the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations and the UNDP.
The event was attended by representatives of Khokimiyats of the regions, Heads of the Main Employment Department of the MELR, representative of the Project Management Center in the sphere of Labour, UNDP project’s employees, and representatives of mahallas.
In total, 78 pieces of equipment for the above mentioned professions for a total amount of 369 million soums were given to vocational training centers on a non-reimbursable basis. In particular, 21 units of confectionery equipment in the amount of 137 million soums, 24 units of IT equipment in the amount of 100,7 million soums, 12 units of hairdressing equipment in the amount of 28 million soums and 21 units of sewing equipment in the amount of 102,3 million soums.
Akmaljon Mamayusupov, Head of the Main Employment Department of the Andijan region, noted: “The provided modern equipment will help residents of mahallas learn the missing professional skills, mitigate the negative effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, expand employment opportunities and receive a permanent source of income for unemployed citizens, especially women and youth. ".
