Crisis and Fragility Policy and Engagement

UNDP Crisis Offer

UNDP helps countries anticipate, prevent, respond to and recover from crisis, every day, and in every development context.

Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding (CPPRI)

Prevention is at the heart of UNDP’s development mandate, anchored in its mission to reduce development deficits, fight inequalities, and foster inclusion. UNDP leads policy and programme efforts to get ahead of the curve of future crises by mitigating risk and addressing drivers and root causes of conflicts, disasters, and other types of crisis.

Disaster Risk Reduction and Recovery for Building Resilience

UNDP works through four workstreams that increase risk governance capacity, refine and expand the understanding of disaster risk reduction (DRR), foster access to risk information and enhance prevention, preparedness and recovery processes in order to reduce vulnerability. UNDP pursues a holistic, conflict sensitive, whole-of-government and -society, gender transformative approach that leaves no one behind.

Human Mobility

UNDP addresses the adverse drivers of irregular migration and forced displacement, strengthens the resilience of migrants, forcibly displaced people and their host communities by promoting socioeconomic integration and social cohesion, and expands the development benefits of human mobility in countries and areas of origin, transit and destination.

Rule of Law, Security and Human Rights

Within UNDP and across the wider UN system, the Rule of Law, Security and Human Rights team is the primary implementor of comprehensive and integrated rule of law and human rights programmes. Operating via headquarters and at regional and country levels, the team uniquely combines rule of law, justice, security and human rights expertise.

Climate

Climate and Forests Programme

UNDP’s climate and forest portfolio works with over 30 countries, Indigenous Peoples and local communities to reduce deforestation, forest degradation and to promote sustainable development. Our programmes support governments achieve their Nationally Determined Contributions and transparency, increase access to climate finance for the forest sector and drive equitable forest solutions.

Health for all

Global Fund Partnership and Health Systems

UNDP partners with the Global Fund, governments and civil society to defeat HIV, tuberculosis and malaria and achieve a more equitable, healthier and sustainable future. The partnership strengthens national capacities to deliver essential health services, leave no one behind and build stronger and more resilient systems for health, including in countries facing insecurity, crisis or other capacity constraints

Ensuring all finance is sustainable

SDG Finance

The Sustainable Finance Hub offers a comprehensive package of methods and tools in support of the organization’s SDG Integration offer to enable governments, the private sector and international financial institutions to accelerate financing for the SDGs.

Insurance and Risk Finance Facility

The IRFF was launched in 2021 to work with developing country governments and partners to address the protection gap and build financial and socioeconomic resilience for countries, communities and individuals in the face of increased uncertainty. Along with the insurance industry and other partners, the IRFF develops and deploys specific insurance and risk transfer products, tools and services, as well as making significant investment in long-term market transformation and governance capacity.

Disability Inclusion and Resilience

UNDP is committed to achieving transformative and lasting change for persons with disabilities. UNDP supports Member States in implementing the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and by mainstreaming the principles of disability inclusion within its policy and programme work.
