Phase 3

Strengthening the Electoral Cycle Project

The project aims to contribute to the democratic development in the Solomon Islands by strengthening the sustainability of electoral processes in the country, building on the work of phase 1 (2013-2016) and phase 2 (2017-2020).

In line with the recommendations of the 2019 NAM, 2021 evaluation and UNDP's own strategic frameworks, the project phase 3 will build on previous UNDP support to Solomon Islands to sustainably strengthen the capacities of key electoral institutions to deliver credible elections, including support for the SIEC and the Electoral Office to deliver the next electoral cycle events, support longer-term electoral law reforms, assist the design and delivery of activities aimed at strengthening the understanding of voters of the role of elections within the broader democratic frameworks of Solomon Islands and, finally, support the promotion of women's political role.
