“#HerLand #HerRights” Poster Contest dedicated to Desertification and Drought Day 2023

UNDP Turkmenistan, on the occasion of Desertification and Drought Day, June 17 launches a Poster contest
Objective:
The purpose of the creative competition is to draw the attention of society to the environmental problems of desertification, depletion of soil fertility and land degradation leading to desertification and demonstrate how affected are women when land becomes degraded and water is scarce. The contest calls for raises issues of women that remain subject to discriminatory practices that impede their right to inherit and access to services and resources and for the conservation of terrestrial ecosystems, including forest ecosystems.
The contest is part of the global campaign #HerLand UNCCD is launching to promote successful examples of women and girls’ contributions to sustainable land management and mobilize support to advance land rights for women and girls around the world.
Publication contest assignments:
Posters or other printed materials are accepted for the competition, which will include description of the importance of forests as an ecosystem and should demonstrate women and girls at the forefront of land restoration and drought resilience efforts. Poster may include infographics, tables, photos or drawings.
The following should be indicated: Participant’s full name, age, entity’s name (if any), contact phone number and e-mail address.
Contest requirements:
- Participants must be Turkmenistan citizens (aged 14-25);
- Works submitted for the competition must be designed only by a participant (he/she has to be the author of content);
- All works need to be submitted in PDF format in Turkmen, Russian or English;
- All submitted works must be original, works with plagiarism will not be accepted;
- The entry must not violate the intellectual property rights of any third party;
- Submissions will be accepted until July 10.
Entries will be judged on their impact, creativity and relevance to the theme by a jury represented by the UNDP, the Nature Protection, Tebigy Kuwat, Eco-durmush and Ynanch Vepa society of Turkmenistan.
The competition is held from June 17 to July 10, 2023.

The ceremony of awarding winners of the competition with prizes and appreciation certificates will be held on August 12, 2023, Youth Day in the UN Building. The winners of the contest will be also invited to Lebap velayat to participate in the eco action dedicated to the International Day of the Forests, 21 March 2024. The selected posters will be part of an Exhibited organized within the framework of an eco-event to demonstrate the role of women in climate change action.
