Supporting the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities caused by the war
Project Summary
The “Supporting the Rehabilitation of People with Disabilities Caused by the War” project aims to strengthen the rehabilitation system in Ukraine, ensuring there is comprehensive support – through policy development, capacity building, and direct service provision – to persons with traumas and injuries. The project addresses the immediate and long-term needs of persons with disabilities, facilitating their socio-economic integration and enhancing their quality of life.
Project Goals
- To support the Government of Ukraine in developing and implementing policies that uphold the rights of persons with disabilities, with a particular focus on rehabilitation services.
- To enhance the capacity of local stakeholders and institutions involved in the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities.
- To improve the employability and socio-economic integration of persons with disabilities through tailored support and vocational training, as well as the creation of an inclusive and accessible working environment.
Expected Results
- The development and implementation of comprehensive rehabilitation policies and procedures.
- Increased public awareness of available rehabilitation services through targeted information campaigns.
- Enhanced capabilities of local rehabilitation stakeholders through training and capacity-building initiatives.
- The development, piloting, and implementation of rehabilitation models, including the introduction of social workers to multidisciplinary rehabilitation teams, the rehabilitation of persons with visual impairments, and the provision of social services related to rehabilitation.
- The provision of required rehabilitation equipment to medical and social service institutions.
- Improvements to vocational education and training systems, making them more inclusive for persons with disabilities.
- Increased employment opportunities for persons with disabilities through advisory support to businesses, job placement services, and skills development programmes.
