UNDP will assist the Government of the Republic of Moldova to implement key reforms in the field of public administration, energy, and digital transformation. A new UNDP project, of US$1,000,000, will provide expertise to Moldova in essential areas in the context of its EU membership candidate country status and the multidimensional crises setting.

“UNDP supports the country to roll out key reforms that will ultimately benefit all people of Moldova, while contributing to building national resilience to crises and accelerating achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals,” said Daniela Gasparikova, UNDP Resident Representative to the Republic of Moldova.

UNDP will contribute to enhancing the Government’s capacities for anticipatory and risk-informed decision-making and evidence-based policy development. 

At the same time, UNDP will support the implementation of the recently approved Public Administration Reform Strategy of the Republic Moldova for 2023-2030, which aims to strengthen local public authorities’ capacities to deliver on essential services, including in crises context. 

UNDP will also help the Government in development of a framework for testing and experimentation to deploy new energy technologies and innovations while being able to respond to calls for energy security and just energy transition.

At the same time, UNDP continues to support the Government of the Republic of Moldova in developing and implementing its vision for the digital transformation of the country. A national digital literacy programme targeting women and girls will also help strengthen their capacity to use digital public services. 

The project “Strengthening resilient development in Moldova through anticipation and prevention of crises and inclusive recovery”, to be carried out during 2023-2024, is financed through the UNDP Funding Window for Governance, Peacebuilding, Crisis and Resilience, thanks to the contributions by Denmark, Luxembourg, Republic of Korea, and Sweden.
