In 2020, the  Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSE) launched the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, a country-wide campaign focusing on substance abuse prevention, mass education and sensitization, capacity building of service providers, positive partnership with educational institutions, and augmentation of treatment, rehabilitation, and counselling facilities for addicts.

To assess the success of the campaign, MoSJE with support of UNDP evaluated the programme at the central, state, district, and community level.

This assessment report provides key insights into the prevalence of substance abuse across different regions, the affected population group, and the attitude of the community towards this issue.

The report also highlights how the campaign has positively impacted people's lives, as evidenced through testimonials on how the campaign raised their awareness.
