Implementation of SDGs in Ukraine in the context of recovery from war and towards European integration

Project summary:

This initiative aims to strengthen Ukraine’s national framework for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) implementation, particularly in light of the country's recovery efforts and its ongoing integration with Europe. 

The project, which officially commenced in June 2024, is designed to support the Government of Ukraine – specifically the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine – in leading the development and implementation of the national SDG framework. A key aspect of the project is to promote the localization of SDGs, ensuring that policies at both national and local levels are aligned with the updated global and local SDG indicators. 

Project goal:

The project supports the Government of Ukraine in the continued implementation of the SDGs in Ukraine, focusing on recovery from the war and integration with the European Union. The main priority is securing that a revision of national indicators is finalized in line with the EU accession agenda, with a particular focus on human rights, inclusiveness, and non-discrimination.

Expected results:

Output: Advancing SDGs in Ukraine Amidst Post-War Recovery and European Integration Efforts. 

Activities:

  1. Support the Government in preparation of policy papers, recommendations, and guidelines for revision of national indicators of the SDGs in Ukraine. 
  2. Strengthening the capacity of the Government for interagency cooperation when elaborating national indicators of the SDGs in Ukraine.
  3. SDG mainstreaming through supporting the implementation of the EU accession agenda in the spheres of human rights, inclusiveness, and non-discrimination.
