Typhoon Yagi, the strongest storm in Asia in 2024, severely impacted Viet Nam, affecting 3.6 million people and causing widespread destruction. With over 240,000 homes damaged, 72,000 submerged, and infrastructure in ruins, the storm has left the country facing a recovery effort estimated at USD 1.6 billion. In response, UNDP is engaged in recovery efforts in collaboration with the Government of Viet Nam, focusing on four strategic areas:

• Housing and community infrastructure
• Resilient livelihoods
• Disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation
• Effective governance
