Promotion of sustainable food systems and improved ecosystems services in Northern Kazakhstan Landscape

The project aims to support the large-scale implementation of efficient land management technologies and environmentally friendly approaches, as well as the promotion of "green" production and supply chains to reduce the degradation of productive agricultural lands and associated valuable ecosystems in the landscape of Northern Kazakhstan.

The project aims to test and pilot sustainable land use and ecosystem management approaches and practices at the landscape level for decision-making at the national and regional levels.

Project objectives:

  • Implementation of sustainable land use practices and approaches taking into account the prevention of land and ecosystem degradation;

  • Provision of assistance in diversification and increasing the efficiency of management of fertile arable lands;

  • Implementation of agro-ecological incentives for sustainable agricultural production;

  • Restoration and implementation of sustainable rangeland management methods.

National partners:

  • Ministry of Agriculture, 

  • The Committee of forestry and wildlife of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural resources, 

  • local authorities on piloted areas.
