The Earth has always shown us kindness, and it has always been our responsibility to give back; now more than ever. In an effort to address the rising tide of plastic pollution, UNDP Iran has partnered with Danone Iran and Hyperstar to launch a campaign that takes a small but significant step toward a more sustainable future.

Every day, an alarming amount of plastic, equivalent to 2,000 garbage trucks, is dumped into our oceans, rivers, and lakes, endangering marine life and ecosystems. To tackle this growing problem, the “Peace with Earth” campaign encourages a shift toward eco-friendly solutions. The campaign, launched in conjunction with World Peace Day and the Back-to-School season, focuses on replacing plastic straws with paper ones in Danone’s popular Danette Drinkable Desserts.

This joint initiative aims to reduce plastic waste and promote sustainable living, while also raising awareness about the importance of protecting wildlife. The switch to paper straws may seem small, but it represents a critical step toward mitigating plastic pollution and ensuring a healthier environment for future generations.

By choosing eco-friendly alternatives, we are making peace not just with the Earth, but also with the creatures that inhabit it. Every effort counts, and with this campaign, we hope to inspire others to consider the impact of their daily choices.

Thank you for joining UNDP Iran, Danone, and Hyperstar in this journey toward sustainability. Together, we can make a difference. Stay tuned for more eco-friendly innovations and joint campaigns as we continue to protect our planet and future generations.

Reduce-Reuse and Recycle! Become a leader and take action by changing simple habits in your daily routine.

The Solutions:

Embrace a Circular Lifestyle: By opting for sustainable alternatives like reusable coffee mugs, water bottles, and food packaging, we can actively combat plastic waste. Embracing a circular lifestyle reduces our reliance on single-use plastic items and encourages the reuse of products.

Bring your own reusable bag when shopping: To mitigate the environmental impact, it is crucial to reduce plastic bags while shopping. These bags can take up to 1000 years to decompose due to their non-renewable petrochemical composition. Bringing a reusable bag when shopping helps reduce the demand for plastic bags.

Opt for Plastic-Free Toiletries: Personal care products are significant contributors to microplastic pollution in our oceans. Choosing plastic-free alternatives for face wash, day cream, makeup, deodorant, shampoo, and other toiletries can prevent the entry of microplastics into the marine ecosystem.

Quit Smoking: Smoking-related waste, such as plastic filters and toxic chemicals from billions of cigarettes sold worldwide, poses a severe environmental threat. Responsible disposal of cigarette butts is essential to prevent them from polluting landfills and oceans, safeguarding marine species.

Join Cleanup Movements: Plastic waste is pervasive in various environments, including parks, rivers, and beaches. Beyond participating in local and global cleanup movements, we can directly contribute to removing plastic from the environment and preventing further pollution by reducing and changing the way with dispose waste.
