The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine and the United Nations Global Compact hosted a graduation ceremony for the human rights business accelerator, during which plans to conduct a new survey of Ukrainian companies on readiness to implement the new European Union (EU) legislation on corporate sustainability were announced.

Welcoming the participants, Christophoros Politis, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Ukraine stressed that in order to successfully integrate into the EU and work with European business partners, it is important for businesses to pay attention to the new EU Directive on Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence.

“Ukrainian business can become a driver of social transformation, based on the principles of inclusivity, equality, and human rights, which are key to Ukraine's recovery,” said Politis. “At UNDP, we work with business, government, and civil society to promote transformative changes in Ukraine, to ensure that the rights of all men, women, and children are a central theme in these processes.”

The survey is intended to assess how ready Ukrainian companies are to implement the European Union’s Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), the challenges they face in this process, and how Ukrainian businesses can be supported to successfully adapt to the legislative changes in the EU.

The results of this survey will serve as a basis for developing policies, capacity-building initiatives, and support programmes to help Ukrainian companies comply with the CSDDD and promote responsible business practices in Ukraine.

How can business participate in the survey?

Representatives of business can participate in the survey by completing a questionnaire here:  https://forms.office.com/e/35ysctqxEb (in Ukrainian language). All the answers will be treated as confidential; only summary data will be used for analytical purposes. Responses are accepted until 31 October 2024.

Background information:

The survey was initiated by UNDP in Ukraine, in partnership with the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine and the United Nations Global Compact Network in Ukraine as part of the “Implementation of SDGs in Ukraine in the context of recovery from war and towards European integration” project. The initiative is intended to strengthen Ukraine’s national framework to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in light of the country's recovery efforts and its ongoing integration with Europe.
