10. Conservation and Climate Action
In June 2011, Baa Atoll became the Maldives' first UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve with UNDP support, showcasing a community-led conservation model for other atolls. By 2024, the Maldives emerged as the first Small Island Developing State to endorse an Integrated National Financing Framework that prioritizes gender-responsive financing for climate action, advancing its climate agenda and promoting sustainable growth.
