Key Activities of the COP29 Simulation:
- Capacity Building: Participants engaged in a two-week online program led by global academic institutions and organizations. The sessions enhanced climate literacy, youth-led climate action, diplomacy, debate, and conflict resolution.
- Policy Papers: Students developed mentored policy papers on climate-related themes, guided by Egyptian and international mentors from relevant academic and professional backgrounds.
- COP29 Declaration: The youth-voted resolutions were consolidated into a published which was presented at COP29 in Baku.
- COP29 Participation: Around 35 students presented the outcomes of the Mock Conference Declaration in sessions held in the Blue and Green Zones at COP29 in Baku, amplifying the impact of their work on global stage.
Mock Conference: Hosted at the British University in Egypt, the conference simulated COP negotiations, where participants assumed roles as country delegates, chief negotiators, and non-state actors. They debated and voted on resolutions derived from their policy research.
The COP29 Simulation underscored the power of youth-driven solutions and international collaboration in addressing the urgent challenges of climate change.
