The interactive live review session, "Advancing Land Restoration through Scientific Literacy," led by KAUST in collaboration with UNDP Saudi Arabia, and Frontiers for Young Minds, demonstrated how empowering the young generation through scientific literacy can advance land restoration and address pressing global issues. The event brought together eight students aged 12–15, who reviewed a pivotal scientific article on weed control's role in sustainable agriculture and land restoration. Their insights were shared in a lively Q&A session with Prof. Salim Al-Babili, fostering a dialogue that bridged the gap between academic expertise and societal understanding. By simplifying scientific knowledge, these young participants highlighted how collaboration between academia, development organizations, and the younger generation can amplify efforts to combat desertification, land degradation, and promote sustainable land use.
