On 29 July 2020 the City Mayor of Banja Luka – Igor Radojičić, together with Steliana Nedera, UNDP Resident Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Srđan Rajčević, Minister of Scientific and Technological Development, Higher Education and Information Society of Republika Srpska, announced the results from the Future City Innovation Challenge - Banja Luka.
58 applications were competing under the Innovation Challenge. Based on the final ranking of applications and the availability of financial resources, 10 proposals will be supported for implementation:

The winning proposals which introduce pioneer solutions for smart waste management, digitalising management of urban green areas, smart public lighting system, intelligent and people-centred urban transport, traffic and road management, e-commerce platform to support rural urban areas in Banja Luka, as well as digital information-sharing for citizens and tourists.
The total amount of resources to be invested by UNDP, the City of Banja Luka and the Ministry for Scientific and Technological Development, Higher Education and Information Society amounts to BAM 500,000 and projects’ implementation will be ongoing in the next 6 months.
