Transparency and Accountability for Solomon Islands
Taking the Solomon Islands National Anti-Corruption Strategy as a foundation, the project aims at reducing corruption levels and its impact for people of Solomon Islands. Cost-shared by the Government of Solomon Islands, It supports institutional efforts to reduce corruption and develop effective, accountable and transparent institutions at all levels to ensure effective and timely achievement of national development outcomes. It offers a platform to private sector, civil society and citizens to engage, innovate and hold accountable responsible parties.
Objectives
The project is its Initiation Phase, which aimed at testing and refining strategies to fight corruption in Solomon Islands in view of developing a full-fledged project. Within the framework of the National Development Strategy and Agenda 2030 and the follow-up policies, the project (initiation plan) aims to achieve the following results:
- An effective communication strategy or plan is developed and operationalized for raising awareness of the institutions and the general public on the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS);
- Systemic consultation and coordination mechanisms are established and operationalized among the actors engaged in implementation of the NACS;
- Baselines are established, capacity building needs assessments conducted, and risk assessments initiated;
- Pilot initiatives are tested and assessed for possible scaling up in selected areas of service delivery and social accountability.
