Luanda, July 3, 2024 - The Angola SDG Investor Map was presented today in Luanda. The tool identifies investment areas in the country that offer business opportunities and can promote the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and national development objectives.

The SDG Investor Map was carried out in partnership between the Ministry of Planning, the Angolan Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency (AIPEX), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The analysis shows that Angola is emerging as an attractive country for impact-led investment, due to a progressive improvement in the business environment and favorable market conditions, including peace, stability, natural resources, and strategic geography. The SDG Investor Map is expected to be presented at national international investment forums, business missions and business meetings, among other events.

“The Map launched today represents yet another vehicle to present existing sustainable development opportunities and solutions in Angola” – affirmed H.E. Minister of Planning. The CEO of AIPEX highlighted that “The SDG Investor Map will be a crucial tool for the sustainable development of the Angolan economy."

The tool identifies opportunities to leverage investments impacting the SDGs in the food and beverages (agriculture, fisheries, and poultry), renewable energy, infrastructure and financial sectors across the country. These sectors lie at Angola’s intersection of development needs and the Government’s policy priorities and offer investment opportunities with proven and emerging business models through which the private sector can support Angola’s sustainable development progress. 

The Angola SDG Investor Map was developed based on consultations with more than two hundred stakeholders from 86 entities, including ministries, public institutes, the private sector, financial institutions, diplomatic representations, development partners, academia, and civil society.

“The Map is a tool designed to provide investors with market information on tangible investment opportunities and business models to advance the SDGs” – stated the UNDP Resident Representative.
