Annual Report 2023

23 de December de 2024

In a world of constant change, 2023 marked a pivotal year for global development and for Brazil. While the COVID-19 pandemic was officially declared over, new conflicts emerged, and the climate crisis deepened. Amid these global challenges, Brazil saw the recovery of key economic and social indicators, including a reduction in poverty.

In this context, UNDP Brazil continues to align its efforts with the country’s priorities to promote more equitable, resilient, and sustainable development. We focus on strengthening Brazil’s institutional and democratic capacities, ensuring that no one is left behind, even in complex situations.

We are also preparing to support Brazil’s resurgence on the international stage. With Brazil assuming the G20 Presidency, UNDP has provided valuable technical input and tireless logistical support. At the same time, we celebrate the announcement of COP30, which will be held in 2025 in Belém, and are working to establish mechanisms and partnerships to host another historic event.

Our efforts to maximise results in 2023 are reflected in 105 projects implemented in partnership with federal, state, and local governments, the judiciary, oversight bodies, the private sector, research institutions, and civil society. In the following pages, we present some of the key actions and outcomes developed throughout the year.
