The Handbook on ODHR is based on UNDP's facilitated post-earthquake housing reconstruction programme in Nepal, implemented after the 2015 earthquake. Under this programme, 26,912 houses were reconstructed, repaired, and retrofitted and the knowledge UNDP gained through that experience is the backbone of this Handbook. It provides guidance on all housing reconstruction phases: damage assessment, programme design and implementation, and reconstruction while encouraging the reduction of future risk and promoting the sustainability of the interventions.
