Young entrepreneurs gathering at Kimisagara for the 3rd Aguka Cohort registration
MOYA
In March 2025, Rwanda took an exciting step toward building a brighter economic future by launching the third group of the Aguka Ideation Program. This important initiative, created through the partnership between the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF), the Ministry of Youth and Arts, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the European Union, aims to equip young men and women to become entrepreneurs with the skills, resources, and funding necessary to set-up their new businesses and drive economic transformation.
A dedicated team from these organizations traveled across all five provinces of Rwanda to find and support talented youth. Out of 1,514 applicants, 615 young women and 901 young men were shortlisted to participate in the third cohort. Participants were introduced to the programme’s key objectives, expectations, and training journey, setting the stage for an intensive six-week learning experience.

The training takes place on the TEFConnect platform, where students can engage with learning materials at their own pace. They will participate in exciting masterclasses and complete hands-on assignments that are designed to build their business knowledge. Officially starting on March 17, this program is more than just training; it is an opportunity for young people to discover their potential and prepare for successful careers.
The program will wrap up in June with a thrilling pitching event, where the top 200 innovative projects will be showcased. Among these, 100 outstanding entrepreneurs will receive USD 3,000 each in seed funding, giving them vital support to turn their business ideas into reality.

The TEF-Aguka program is more than just a training course; it is a powerful way to help youth take charge of their futures. By giving young entrepreneurs important skills and financial support, this initiative encourages job creation, strengthens Rwanda’s business environment, and sets the stage for long-term economic growth.
As Rwanda embraces this exciting journey, the TEF-Aguka program shines as a symbol of hope, lighting the way for a future filled with possibilities created by its youth. Together, we are not just building businesses; we are shaping the future of the nation.
