Kigali, Rwanda - The UN Assistant Secretary General, UNDP Assistant Administrator and Regional Director for Africa, Ms. Ahunna Eziakonwa, is scheduled to visit Rwanda from 06th to 11th November 2024. Her visit underscores UNDP’s commitment to fostering youth-led innovation, advancing digital skills, and supporting Rwanda’s sustainable development goals.
During her visit, Ms. Eziakonwa will meet with high-level government officials, youth entrepreneurs, development partners, and private sector representatives. Key highlights of her agenda include:
- YouthConnekt Africa Summit: Ms. Eziakonwa will address thousands of young African leaders, policymakers, and innovators, emphasizing the critical role of youth in driving Africa’s transformation.
- Launch of timbuktoo HealthTech Hub: Ms. Eziakonwa will officially launch the timbuktoo HealthTech Hub, which aims to support health-focused startups in Africa and enhance access to healthcare through innovation.
- Hanga Pitchfest: Ms. Eziakonwa will address the Hanga Pitchfest participants. The festival showcases tech- entrepreneurs and creative talents, promoting the innovation ecosystem.
- Field Visits: Ms. Eziakonwa will engage directly with beneficiaries on field, to witness firsthand how innovative initiatives in environment, energy and social governance are shaping Rwanda’s development.
- High-level meetings: Ms. Eziakonwa will engage in a series of high-level meetings with Ministers and other senior government officials, as well as meet with the United Nations Country Team and Diplomatic Corps in Rwanda, aimed at strengthening partnerships, discussing key development agendas, and acknowledging Rwanda's remarkable progress in various sectors.
