CALL FOR PROPOSAL :   Support the implementation of UN Women Rwanda Country Office programmes.

I.Background

UN Women is the United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. A global champion for women and girls, UN Women was established to accelerate progress on meeting their needs worldwide with a triple mandate:

Normative Support: UN Women Supports Member States to strengthen global norms and standards for gender equality and women’s empowerment, and mainstream gender perspectives in other thematic areas.

UN System Coordination: UN Women Promotes coordination and coherence across the UN system to enhance accountability and results for gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Operational activities: Undertake operational activities; UN Women supports Member States, upon their request, in translating global norms and standards into legislation, policies and strategies at the regional and country levels.

Created in 2010, UN Women Rwanda Country Office, has in partnership with government, private sector, civil society, and development partners, made significant contributions towards Rwanda’s progress on gender equality and women empowerment (GEWE). UN Women’s priorities are aligned with national, regional, and global normative frameworks, including the National Strategy for Transformation 2017-2024, the 2030 UN Agenda for Sustainable Development, and the Sustainable 2

 

Development Goals (SDGs), the African Union Agenda 2063, and the East African Community (EAC) Vision 2050.

Furthermore, UN Women Rwanda Country Office’s priorities respond to the United Nations Development Assistance Plan (UNDAP II) or the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF 2018-2024). The Country Office embraces the core principle of Leaving No One Behind (LNOB) and contributes to the implementation of UN Women's Global strategic plan (2022-2025) which aims to achieve “Gender Equality, the Empowerment of all Women and Girls, and the fulfilment of their Human Rights”.

II. Purpose

UN Women Rwanda Country Office seeks potential Implementing Partners/Responsible Parties to support the implementation of its programmes which will advance its work through established thematic impact areas defines as follows:

  • Women lead, participate in, and benefit equally from governance systems.
  • Women have income security, decent work, and economic autonomy.
