Facilitation skills training develops knowledge and skills of PNTL officers in Baucau Municipality
September 17, 2018
On 12 and 13 September 2018 the “PNTL – Strengthening Governance and Service Delivery” project conducted “Facilitation Skills Training” for 10 PNTL officers in PNTL Baucau Municipality including the gender focal point, vulnerable person’s unit (VPU) officers, officers from the criminal investigation unit and training focal points.
The objective of the training was to increase knowledge and skills of PNTL officers on training facilitation, with participants expected to be capable of preparing and conducting trainings. The training consisted of both theoretical and practical parts. The participants learned theories such as designing modules and making effective PowerPoint slides, followed by practicing in front of each other and receiving comments and recommendations.
Ms. Laura Maria da Fatima Costa Cabriera, gender focal point in PNTL Baucau Municipality, made a presentation on gender basic concept and was provided with recommendations and encouragement by other participants to improve her presentation.
She said: “The training was very useful as it deepened my understanding of the contents of my presentation, and the skills I gained through the training largely help me to communicate with my audiences and deliver my messages effectively.”
She will share a presentation for upcoming gender mainstreaming training as one of facilitators.
UNDP is confident that the training has greatly contributed not only to developing the knowledge and skills of participants but also supporting them to gain more confidence in delivering presentations and facilitating training.
