UNDP team in Trinidad and Tobago multicountry office is composed by national and international experts, with different backgrounds and experiences, committed to supporting national efforts for the acceleration of the 2030 agenda. Our multicultural team has different academic and professional backgrounds with experience working with governments, regional and global institutions, NGOs and Civil Society Organizations as well as with the private sector, academia and other development partners.
To achieve its mandate, UNDP relies entirely on voluntary contributions from UN Member States, multilateral organizations, the private sector and other sources, in the form of unrestricted regular resources (core), and contributions earmarked for a specific theme, programme or project. Thanks to the support of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago, the EU, USAID, the GEF, SGP, Japan and UNDP core donors, our Multi-Country Office is pleased to deliver results for the people living in the countries we serve.
The Trinidad and Tobago Multi-Country Office oversees four countries:- Trinidad and Tobago, Aruba, Curacao and Sint Maarten.
Our multi-country office promotes Climate Action, energy transition, inclusive growth and digitalization alongside the rule of law and governance. With a strong focus on gender equality and the main objective of “leaving no-one behind”, under the leadership of national institutions, and in collaboration with local, national, regional and international partners, UNDP multicultural team provides technical support and enhances capacities for programme implementation in Trinidad and Tobago, Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), otherwise known as the Global Goals, are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. Taking into account local needs and national priorities, SDGs 7, 8, 9, 13, and 16 are at the centre of the work UNDP does in Trinidad and Tobago, Aruba, Curacao and Sint Maarten.
Our work continues to evolve, but at the heart of what we do is our innovation for impact ethos. Creating positive change is at the base of every project and our approach employs connecting, and working, with communities, donors and partners to find effective, innovative approaches to achieve the goals.
The SIDS 2.0 initiative is a collaborative effort aimed at advancing the digital transformation of Small Island Developing States (SIDS). It involves country self-assessments, action plan formulation, intervention prioritization, implementation, and iterative self-assessments. This process aligns national development priorities with regional capabilities and international best practices. The Digital Pathways for SIDS 2.0 Conference is a high-level event dedicated to this initiative. The conference held in April/May focused on driving forward the digital transformation agenda for SIDS, bringing together regional and global stakeholders to discuss strategies, share insights, and explore solutions to enhance digital development in these regions.
