Four Model Factories to begin supporting digital transformation of SMEs in Türkiye

Ankara, Bursa, Kayseri and Konya Model Factories will start providing manufacturing companies training and consultancy services on digital transformation in addition to lean transformation
Within the digital transformation of Model Factories set up by the Ministry of Industry and Technology and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), establishment of technological infrastructure of Ankara, Bursa, Kayseri and Konya Model Factories was completed.
This infrastructure that unites the Internet of Things (IoT), Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) softwares into a single platform will enable digitalization of lean applications provided to companies by Model Factories and thus SMEs will be able to receive training and consultancy services on digital transformation in addition to lean transformation. Model Factories operate to improve the productivity and competitiveness of manufacturing companies all around Türkiye.
The use cases such as human-robot and/or machine-machine collaboration, digital assistance system (SOP), pick-by-light for assembly and logistics operation, logistic operations, real-time cycle analysis, condition monitoring, energy data-based operation costs, digital quality management, digital performance management, digital product shadow – product tracking and tracing were integrated into the technological infrastructure of the Model Factories.
Also, Model Factory personnel completed trainings that aim to improve their capabilities in digital transformation. 30 people, consisting of directors and trainers of Model Factories, attended the online trainings on issues such as production logistics management, sales and resource planning, and quality and maintenance management.
This transformation will make Model Factories implement digital processes and use cases for companies wanting to improve productivity and enhance competitive advantage through lean manufacturing and digital transformation.
Digital transformation of Model Factories was conducted within the Applied SME Capability Center - Model Factory initiative implemented by the Ministry of Industry and Technology and UNDP. Since 2018, eight Model Factories opened in Türkiye in Ankara, Adana, Bursa, Gaziantep, Izmir, Kayseri, Konya and Mersin, with funding provided by the Government, the EU and Germany’s KfW.
