Gaziantep and Mersin Model Factories, where End-to-End Lean Digitalisation was completed for the first time in terms of both hardware and software, continue to contribute to the increase in industrial productivity in Turkey.
The launch meeting of the Capability and Digital Transformation Center, implemented in cooperation with Gaziantep Chamber of Industry and UNDP in Gaziantep Model Factory, which aims to provide high efficiency and increase quality for the manufacturing industry, took place on 30 September 2021 with the participation of the Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır and UNDP Turkey Resident Representative Louisa Vinton.
Model factories which aim to reduce unit costs in companies with lean production, to make quality production, to ensure effective and efficient production and to ensure that employees are included in production in the most efficient way, offer an important opportunity to increase the profitability of companies in Turkey and to contribute to the economy with new investments.
With the help of “End-to-End Lean Digitalization”, the model factory, which makes data flow trustworthy and effective in businesses with a large number of personnel, plays a major role in increasing the efficiency of the workflow in businesses.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Gaziantep Governor Davut Gül, Mayor Fatma Şahin, Chamber of Industry Council President Adil Sani Konukoğlu, Chamber of Commerce President Tuncay Yıldırım and industrialists attended the introductory meeting where UNDP Turkey Resident Representative Louisa Vinton said, "Model Factories are not only important for productivity, but also for lean digitalization transforming private companies.”
Noting that many countries could not acquire most of the products they needed during the pandemic, Deputy Minister Kacır said, “Countries that have the power to meet their needs during the pandemic were successful. We believe that we will reap the fruits of digital transformation in the coming period.”
Small and medium-sized businesses enjoy productivity gains of up to 100 percent thanks to the training and advisory services provided in model factories that UNDP has established in major Turkish cities, in partnership with the Ministry of Industry and Technology.
The establishment of model factories started in 2015 and they are currently operating in Adana, Ankara, Bursa, Gaziantep, İzmir, Kayseri, Konya and Mersin.
