Economic Impact Assesment of GIDEM Project
Economic Impact Assesment of GIDEM Project
July 2, 2007
This report assesses the economic impact of the GIDEM Project, which offers business development and local economic support services to SMEs in the GAP region. It employs a mixed-methods approach combining surveys, interviews, and statistical modeling to measure impact in six key areas including sales, exports, productivity, and investment. While GIDEM's contribution to firm institutionalization was limited, it notably boosted entrepreneurship, helped firms access new markets, and increased export volumes. The analysis estimates a total economic value-added of TRY 74 million, translating into a return of 10 times the invested service budget. GIDEM is recognized as a promising local development model for regional policy design in Türkiye.
