Winners of the Grant Contest on countering and preventing violent extremism are announced

On October 28, 2022, UNDP announced the winners of the Grant Contest for financing initiatives of Non-Governmental and Non-Commercial Organizations (NGOs) in the field of countering and preventing violent extremism (C/PVE).
Launched in November 2021, the contest aimed to support the activities of civil society organizations on various aspects of C/PVE.
Based on the results of the consideration of numerous applications received
by UNDP, the Selection Committee has decided to finance the projects of:
- Center of the Study of Regional Threats;
- Fergana regional branch of the Republican Center for Social Adaptation of Children;
- NGO “Mulokot”.
The initiatives of these NGOs focus on vital strands of C/PVE such as leveraging social media, rendering MHPSS (mental health and psycho – social support) for the vulnerable groups and researching into the foreign best practices
on de-radicalization and prospects for their emulation in Uzbekistan.
The contest was held in the framework the global project “Strengthening Resilience to Violent Extremism in Asia (STRIVE Asia)” - a Joint EU-UN Partnership, which aims at contributing to C/PVE in Central, South and Southeast Asia through a whole of society/multi-stakeholder approach including governments, civil society and the private sector.
