Inclusive transformation for youth and child-friendly local governance in Uzbekistan

Project Summary:

Enhance the inclusiveness and accountability of local governance systems in Uzbekistan, focusing on the needs of children, young people, and vulnerable groups through participatory local planning and budgeting.

Main objectives: 

  • develop and implement policies and frameworks that ensure the needs of children and young people are prioritized in local governance.

  • strengthen the accountability mechanisms within local governments to ensure they are responsive to community needs.

  • foster participatory local planning and budgeting processes that involve children and youth in decision-making.

  • build the capacities of local governments to strategically plan, manage resources, and deliver high-quality public and social services.

  • encourage active participation of children and young people in local governance to promote a culture of civic engagement and social cohesion.

Expected results:

  • Coherent and inclusive policies and legal frameworks are established, creating a supportive environment for children and youth.

  • Local governments have improved abilities to strategically plan and manage resources effectively.

  • Vulnerable groups, including women, youth, children, the elderly, and people with disabilities, have increased access to high-quality public and social services.

  • Children and young people actively participate in local planning and decision-making processes, fostering a culture of civic engagement and social cohesion.
