Case Study in Viet Nam on Responsible Business Practices

This book is a response to the increasing demand for learning and teaching on responsible business and human rights in higher education institutions offering economics and business majors. 

Comprised of two parts, the book provides insights into the realm of responsible business practices and stakeholders’ rights in Vietnamese enterprises. Part 1 is an overview of key issues and offers a contextual foundation for the selection and comprehension of the case studies presented. Part 2 presents four case studies that has been compiled, examining enterprises’ good or bad responsible business practices and human rights in Viet Nam. These cases studies delve into the following matters: 

(i) Overtime and harassment in tourism businesses; 
(ii) Uncertainties in the business environment and the enforcement of human rights within enterprises; 
(iii) Seasonal workers, wages, and fines in industrial zones in Bac Ninh province; and 
(iv) Examplary responsible business practices and human rights in textile companies

The book is the result of collaborative efforts from research groups across various universities, including the National Economics University, the Banking Academy - Bac Ninh Branch, Saigon University, and Dalat University, within the framework of the project “Assessing corporate understanding of responsible business practices in Viet Nam."
