Enhancing Disaster and Climate Risk Management in Zambia: Policy Brief
August 5, 2024
Zambia is a diverse and rich natural economic area but is highly vulnerable to climate change and natural disasters.
Different locations in the country have varying degrees of vulnerability to climate change and disasters. There has been an increase in floods and droughts over the past 40 years, resulting in shorter and more intense rainy seasons and an increase in temperature in cooler and warmer seasons.
The effects of climate change are apparent across the country. Rising temperatures and changes in the intensity of rainfall, river flow, floods, and drought are destroying homes, crops, infrastructure, and fisheries.
