The Government of Japan, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Regional Bureau for Africa, is advancing transformative initiatives that address Africa’s most pressing needs and contribute directly to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In 2023, the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) marked its 30th anniversary, bringing together stakeholders in Tokyo, Japan, to reflect on TICAD’s enduring value to Africa amid evolving political and socio-economic contexts across the continent and the globe. The 2024 TICAD Ministerial Meeting in Yokohama and the upcoming 2025 TICAD summit will provide key platforms to strengthen Japan-Africa cooperation within the TICAD framework, focusing on sustainable development, peace, and stability in alignment with the SDGs.
