As technology and artificial intelligence continue to transform our world, cybersecurity is becoming increasingly relevant. Following the UNDP and Give1 Project's cybersecurity training, we’re highlighting participants’ stories—how their interest began, what they plan to do with their knowledge, and why this field matters today. Read the story of Peace Folly, a 22-year-old from Benin, who is combining cybersecurity and AI to revolutionize agricultural practices and address community challenges.

Growing up, Folly was always intrigued by technology, particularly phones. She would often dismantle devices to explore their inner workings, sparking her interest in the field. This curiosity led her to pursue an undergraduate degree in Data Security, where she delved into the world of cybersecurity and learned about real-life threats facing our digital landscape. For Folly, working in cybersecurity is not just a job. “It’s an exhilarating journey filled with new challenges and opportunities for growth,” she says. “I thrive in the dynamic nature of the field, where every day brings something new and exciting.” In a field dominated by men, Folly remains undeterred. She sees the lack of female representation as an opportunity to break stereotypes and pave the way for other women. With a keen interest in agricultural innovation, she envisions leveraging technology to address pressing issues facing her community. Her current project involves integrating AI technology to create a system that monitors and manages agricultural processes, from identifying plant needs to optimizing the entire value chain. Her aim is to combat the effects of climate change and improve food security in Benin.

In a field dominated by men, I see an opportunity to break stereotypes and pave the way for other women to follow. With technology, we can make essential resources more accessible and affordable, ultimately enriching the lives of our fellow citizens.
