Call for Low Value Grants Proposal “Flood Risk Management Using Nature-Based Solutions”

UNDP Albania has issued a Call for Low Value Grants Proposals under the framework of the Adaptation Fund-funded project “Integrated climate-resilient transboundary flood risk management in the Drin River basin in the Western Balkans (Drin FRM Project)”, to support projects proposed by Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) for the implementation of “Flood Risk Management Using Nature-Based Solutions (NBS).”

Focus Areas
The call seeks innovative proposals to:

1.    Enhance Forestry and Ecosystem Services 
2.    Carbon Sequestration and Ecosystem Health 
3.    Community-Driven Nature-Based Solutions

Some recommended initiatives include:
•    Afforestation and Reforestation 
•    Agroforestry 
•    Riparian Buffer Zones 
•    Wetland Restoration 
•    Environmental Education

Important Considerations
•              Compliance with UNDP Standards: Proposals must align with UNDP’s Social and Environmental Standards (SES) to ensure inclusivity and sustainable development.
•              Forestry Plans: All interventions must adhere to forest management plans approved by the National Agency of Forestry of Albania.
•              Geographic Focus: Targeting Areas of Potential Significant Flood Risk (APSFRs) in the Drin River Basin, but also open to all communities along the Drin River.
•              Non-Structural Measures: Only non-structural solutions are eligible for funding under this call.

Eligibility and Proposal Requirements

Eligible applicants must:
•    Be legally registered CSOs in Albania.
•    Have experience and knowledge relevant to flood risk management and the target area.
•    Align their organizational mandate with the proposed activities.
Proposals should:
•    Demonstrate a clear methodology and implementation plan.
•    Include details on the management structure, resources, and team qualifications.
•    Request funding not exceeding USD 50,000 (equivalent in ALL).

Submission Guidelines

•    Submission Deadline: 4 December 2024.
•    Duration: December 2024 to April 2025.
•    Proposals must be written in English and submitted electronically to registry.al@undp.org.
•    Subject of the email: [Applicant Name] – NBS Drin Call for Proposals.
