7 August, Fier, Albania – The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in collaboration with the Government of Albania and its international partners, has inaugurated a new fire station in Fier, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to modernize and enhance municipal fire protection services across the country.

The newly inaugurated fire station is a modern, well-equipped facility that will substantially improve the working conditions and safety of firefighters. It includes essential features such as parking bays for fire trucks, a fire tower, various administrative and coordination offices, training areas, and living and recreational amenities. These facilities underscore the commitment to providing firefighters with the resources they need to perform their work effectively and safely.

The support comes within the framework of the “Strengthening Capacities of Albanian Fire Protection and Rescue Service” (SCAFPRS) project, which is implemented by UNDP Albania in cooperation with the General Directorate of Firefighting and Rescue Services and local governments in the 10 partner municipalities. The project is funded by the Government of Poland in response to Albania’s call for support and recovery following the November 2019 earthquake.

This partnership between the Government of Poland and UNDP has delivered a comprehensive package aimed at modernizing, raising standards, and strengthening the operational and response capacities of municipal firefighting services.

"Gratitude to the Government of Poland and the tireless work of its embassy in Tirana, as well as to UNDP for their commitment to implementing the project aimed at strengthening the capacities of fire protection and rescue services. We are all witnesses to the critical wildfire situation, especially during the last two months, June and July, where the operational forces of fire protection and rescue were involved in more than 1,500 interventions across the territory. The damage to forests and pastures is undoubtedly significant, but we have managed to protect lives and property", underlined Ervin Hoxha, Minister of Interior in Albania.

In every community, the fire station is more than a building—it is a beacon of security and safety. It is where brave men and women prepare to face the most daunting challenges, armed with courage and a sense of duty. This new fire station will not only provide state-of-the-art facilities and equipment but will also serve as a crucial hub for emergency response in the area", said Monika Zuchniak-Pazdan, Ambassador of Poland in Albania.

"I wish to recognize the Government of Poland, who were among the first donors to respond to Albania’s call for support after the November 2019 earthquake. Their partnership with UNDP, has delivered a comprehensive package aimed at modernizing, raising standards, and strengthening the operational and response capacities of municipal firefighting services. This package includes the construction of two new fire stations, three modern fire trucks, three Urban Search and Rescue containers, and 170 personal protection equipment. To maximize the effectiveness of these new resources, extensive training sessions have been delivered. As a result, we have enhanced the operational capacities of 377 firefighters in ten priority municipalities, including Fier", emphasized Monica Merino, Resident Representative UNDP Albania.

The package includes the construction of two new fire stations, the procurement of three modern fire trucks, three containers, and approximately 170 fireproof uniforms for municipal firefighters. To maximize the effectiveness of these new resources, extensive training sessions have been conducted, equipping 377 firefighters in ten priority municipalities, including Fier, with standardized and specialized knowledge in firefighting techniques.

This new fire station not only enhances the operational capacities of firefighting services in Fier but also strengthens the safety and protection of the communities it serves.

Financuar nga Qeveria e Polonisë, Fieri ka tashmë një stacion të ri zjarrfikës për të përmirësuar shërbimet e mbrojtjes nga zjarri 

7 Gusht, Fier, Shqipëri – Programi i Kombeve të Bashkuara për Zhvillim (UNDP), në bashkëpunim me Qeverinë e Shqipërisë dhe partnerët e saj ndërkombëtarë, ka inauguruar një stacion të ri zjarrfikës në Fier, duke shënuar një arritje të rëndësishme në përpjekjet e vazhdueshme për të modernizuar dhe përmirësuar shërbimet e mbrojtjes nga zjarri në të gjithë vendin.

Stacioni i ri zjarrfikës është një strukturë moderne me të gjitha pajisjet e nevojshme, që do të përmirësojë ndjeshëm kushtet e punës dhe sigurinë e zjarrfikësve. Ai përfshin hapësira parkimi për kamionët e zjarrfikësve, një kullë zjarrfikëse, zyra të ndryshme administrative dhe koordinuese, zona trajnimi dhe ambiente rekreacioni. Këto pajisje të reja do t’ju ofrojnë zjarrfikësve mjetet e nevojshme për të kryer punën e tyre në mënyrë efektive dhe të sigurt.

Kjo mbështetje vjen falë ndërhyrjes së projektit “Forcimi i Kapaciteteve të Shërbimit të Mbrojtjes nga Zjarri dhe Shpëtimit të Shqipërisë”, i cili zbatohet nga UNDP Shqipëri në bashkëpunim me Drejtorinë e Përgjithshme të Shërbimit të Mbrojtjes nga Zjarri dhe Shpëtimit në Ministrinë e Brendshme dhe pushtetin lokal në 10 bashkitë partnere. Projekti është financuar nga Qeveria e Polonisë në përgjigje të thirrjes së Shqipërisë për mbështetje dhe rimëkëmbje pas tërmetit të nëntorit 2019.

Ky partneritet midis Qeverisë së Polonisë, Ministrisë së Brendshme dhe UNDP-së ka mundësuar një paketë të plotë ndërhyrjesh që synon modernizimin, rritjen e standardeve dhe forcimin e kapaciteteve operacionale dhe të reagimit të shërbimeve të zjarrfikësve.

Kjo paketë mbështetjeje përfshin gjithashtu ndërtimin e dy stacioneve të reja zjarrfikëse, dhurimin e tre kamionëve zjarrfikës, tre kontejnerë me pajisje për kërkim - shpëtim në raste tërmetesh dhe 170 uniforma për mbrojtjen personale të zjarrfikësve. 

Për të maksimizuar efektivitetin e këtyre pajisjeve të reja, janë zhvilluar seanca trajnimi, ku 377 zjarrfikës në dhjetë bashki prioritare, përfshirë Fierin, kanë fituar njohuri të standardizuara dhe të specializuara në teknikat e zjarrfikjes.

Ky stacion i ri zjarrfikës jo vetëm përmirëson kapacitetet operacionale të shërbimeve zjarrfikëse në Fier, por gjithashtu forcon sigurinë dhe mbrojtjen e komuniteteve të cilave ju shërben.
