Opening of the CHDE Renovated Office and Training Facility

Today, the Armenian Center for Humanitarian Demining and Expertise (CHDE) officially launched its newly renovated Headquarters and Training Centre. The event was attended by Frank Hess, Head of Cooperation, the European Union (EU) Delegation to Armenia, Natia Natsvlishvili, UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia, representatives from the UN agencies, and the diplomatic corps accredited in Armenia.

The CHDE premise was refurbished and furnished within the framework of “Strengthening National Mine Action Capacities” project, funded by European Commission’s Foreign Policy Instruments and implemented by UNDP Armenia.

The CHDE office and training center, extensively refurbished, furnished and equipped with EU and UNDP support, will henceforth serve as a dynamic hub for training for CHDE personnel and partners, facilitating capacity building and other activities in strict accordance with International Mine Action Standards.

In her remarks, Natia Natsvlishvili, UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia, highlighted: “This new facility is a result of our collective efforts, which not only represents the culmination of hard work, dedication, and visionary planning but also symbolizes a new chapter in our mission to enhance expertise and provide top-notch training in humanitarian demining. Moreover, the renovation of the CHDE office here in Yerevan is not just about physical infrastructure; it is a testament to the power of partnership and collaboration in the face of challenges”.

In recognition of the support and as a sign of appreciation and acknowledgement, the CHDE Director Vaghinak Sargsyan awarded UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia, Head of Cooperation, EU Delegation to Armenia, UNDP personnel and other partner agencies with Ministry of Defense and CHDE medals and certificates.
