The Development Needs of Pacific Island Countries Report
The Development Needs of Pacific Island Countries Report
September 3, 2014
The report “Development Needs of Pacific Countries” investigates areas of possible cooperation between Samoa, Tonga and Papua New Guinea and a range of development actors, including China. It seeks to identify development challenges in these three Pacific Islands, what development cooperation and assistance currently exists and where there are gaps and overlaps. The research also examines what interest Chinese actors have for future development cooperation in the region. Based on literature reviews and in-country fieldwork, this research has been conducted by a team of consultants from the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation (CAITEC), Samoa, Tonga and Papua New Guinea, led by Dr Graeme Smith of the Australian National University and Sydney University.
